10 held over MP Liton murder

Ten people have been detained in connection with the murder of Manjurul Islam Liton, a ruling Bangladesh Awami League MP of Gaibandha's Sundarganj constituency.
The police did not reveal the identities of the detainees.
On Saturday, some unidentified assailants shot the AL MP to death in Gaibandha.
At 10:00am on Sunday, Gaibandha police superintendent Md Ashraful Islam told Prothom Alo that police have detained ten suspects for interrogation in connection with the murder. No case has been filed as yet, he added.
The Gaibandha police superintendent on Saturday said the MP was hit by two bullets in the chest.
Local AL leaders alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh or extremist group might have killed Manjurul.
Hartal in Sundarganj
Supporters of the MP have been observing hartal today in Sundarganj upazila of the district protesting at the MP murder.
The protesters have shut the train on Santahar-Lalmonirhat route.
Bamandanga union Juba League convenor Nadim Hossain said the hartal will be continued until the killer of the MP is arrested.
