Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) is going to formulate a new policy regarding warranty services in three months. The decision was taken at a view exchange meeting on warranty and maximum retail price (MRP) policies.
Representatives of eight branches of BCS also took part in the meeting through video conference.
BCS president Ali Ashfaq, secretary general Subrata Sarkar, director Md Shahid-ul-Munir and SM Wahiduzzaman were present on the occasion.
Ali Ashfaq said the present warranty policy needs to be reformed to keep pace with the market. The new policy will benefit both the buyer and the seller, he observed.
The speakers also stressed introducing a 'paid system' to address the system loss caused by the buyer to dealer, dealer to distributor, distributior to service center chain.
Smart Technologies (BD) managing director Md Zahirul Islam has been tasked with the responsibility to oversee formulation of the new warranty policy while Global Brand and Private Limited chairman ASM Abdul Fattah was entrusted with the responsibility of formulating the maximum retail price policy.
